Despite the Matrix being fictitious, Cypher exclaims that “ignorance is bliss.” This starkly contrasts with the mindset of Morpheus and the others who wish to liberate people from their imprisonment and as such, Cypher’s cryptic character reinforces the characteristic concealment of reality.
