The Verona Weekly staff would like to thank the houses of the Montagues and Capulets for donating towards our newspaper. We would also like to give our sincerest apologies to both families in this time of sadness and grief. Yesterday, a fight broke out between two young men. At this moment we are unsure of what caused the fight, however, we do know that it was not at the fault of one person alone. Mercutio Montague and Tybalt Capulet were the first to draw blades. Romeo Montague tried to step in unsuccessfully. When Romeo stepped between Tybalt and Mercutio, Tybalt stabbed Mercutio underneath Romeo’s arm. Mercutio died minutes later in the arms of his friends. Romeo then, seeking revenge, ran off in search of Tybalt. Romeo eventually found …show more content…
When both Tybalt’s and Mercutio’s bodies were brought before the prince, and he was told the story, he decreed one thing. Seeing as to the fact that the two that had started the fight are both dead, he saw no reason to spill more blood that day. The prince then banished Romeo from Verona and if he were to be seen within Verona walls again he would be charged and executed for murder. Shocking decree comes after a deadly fight ensues.The Capulets are proud to announce the engagement of Juliet Capulet to Paris. The wedding was originally planned for Thursday morning, but was changed to Wednesday morning. The wedding will take place at the church. Please come wearing your best attire. All are welcome with the exception of the Montagues. After Verona found out about Romeo and Juliet’s marriage and demise, we found out about how Friar Laurence played a role in it all. He aided Romeo and Juliet by marrying them in the church secretly without the consent of their parents. After Romeo’s banishment he hid Romeo in his cell and helped him escape Verona unnoticed. When Juliet threatened to kill herself, he gave her a sleeping potion that would fake her death. Should he be punished? The answer to that is yet to be
