28. Turn a passage into a poem. Be sure to cite the passage first. (Poetic responses may be somewhat shorter than the required 200-400 words, perhaps only 100 words.) Then briefly describe the artistic and emotional differences in the two formats (your other 100 words).…
Poetry has a very complex and intellectual way of depicting life and the events that occur. They can describe love, hate, lust, anger, and sadness. Poems can actually change the perspective and the way of living for many people. Many find poems to be difficult and extremely confusing. However, they are meant to be closely interpreted and annotated until the deeper meaning is…
What is poetry? A variety of answers are likely to emerge when you ask this question. According to Merriam Webster, poetry is defined as, “Metrical writing; writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm.” An author can have a set purpose of writing something, but everyone interprets readings differently. Any work, in which the speaker is telling a story that evokes emotion from its reader; the writing does not have to any set, specific emotion that the reader is supposed to feel, a change in wording or style of writing can cause someone to look at that section different; that is what poetry is to me.…
This really depends on the reader themselves and preferably them be coming of age as well. Both poems can intrigue different readers and sometimes maybe even the same readers. When reading about love one can assume that people want to be able to feel and relate to what the author is saying. A person of younger age might be able to relate to “She Walks In Beauty” because they know how it feels to have a crush on another kid and see their effortless beauty. For those who might have experienced something around the lines of what is described in the “Morning Poem” then they can feel exactly how the writer felt, which might be harder for a child to experience since they probably have not experienced…
Imagine finally getting married and starting a family. One may imagine having a son and he is a football player and a daughter and she is a cheerleader. Sharing the best eighteen years with them and now they are off to college. Now imagine having two toddlers to feed, change diapers, and keep track of all day with no help from a nanny, friends or a spouse. Now that motherhood has taken over there is no room for personal time or for friends because motherhood says that there are greater responsibilities at hand.…
Poetry is a way for people to express their inner most thoughts and feelings. When I read poems, I feel as if I can feel exactly what the author is feeling. Edward Hirsch believes “a reader of poetry is a kind of pilgrim setting out, setting forth” as explained in his article, “To the Reader Setting Out”. Hirsch compared a reader to a pilgrim in his article. In his article, he stated, “Reading poetry is an adventure in renewal, a creative act, a perpetual beginning, a rebirth of wonder.”…

I chose to illustrate the poem Take One Home for the Kiddies by Philip Larkin through a short video. The reason I chose a video was because I wanted the viewer to be able to hear the poem being read aloud. Hearing the poem read from a male’s voice allows the poem to come to life, instead of the viewers reading the poem for themselves. Along with the poem being read aloud are pictures illustrating the language being spoken. For example, if the word horn was said, then a picture of a horn would be present in the video.…
Literature Paper Poetry can be very complex and even though it can vary and use different techniques to get the point across it may come to the same conclusion and meaning, and can also be interpreted differently. Poetry is meant to be understood in the reader's own way. Why I Hate Raisins, Hand-Me-Down Halloween, and My Brother at 3AM are about the struggles of living in the reservation, but use different style, syntax and tone. Why I Hate Raisins is a poem about the struggles of not having enough food or not being able to afford food other than what they received. It is written in subtly and sounds simple, so the true meaning behind the poem is not really understood until the end, and has a deeper meaning.…
To humans, the most essential part to living is communicating. We connect to one another through ways of expression such as music or literature. Poetry as a form of writing is a way to express feelings through rhythm and the use of specific words. In every poem, the author conveys a certain topic or emotion to the reader. Poetry is a means of human expression that exists because there are readers and writers who are involved and engaged in human experience. This essay will discuss the mariners experience about creation of god and his expressions towards it. “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge reveals the importance of God’s creations and the appreciation individual ought to have for them, no matter how small or great.…
