The Middle Ages/Medieval Period started from the 5th century, and lasted until the 15th century. It began with the fall of the Western Roman Empire and merged into the Renaissance and the Age of Discovery. It was at this time period where the stories of kings and queens, princes and princesses, and knights and heroes occurred/were based on. This time, obviously, had a lot of differences from the present time, due to being 10 centuries ago. However, what some people don’t know is that the Middle Ages had some things similar to the 21st Century. The rich are at the highest level, using their riches to control and manipulate social and political happenings. The middle class are, well, at the middle of it all, they can get by, but cannot afford the luxuries of the rich. The poor are at the bottom of the ladder, for obvious reasons. The social hierarchy of this time and of the Middle Ages differ vastly. Today, everyone is equal; no one is inherently of higher class or of lower class. Our government does not control our actions, rather it leads us all to a better future (but as of recent events, it seems, well, to not be leading us to a better future). In the Middle Ages, it is all about your bloodline. If you came from a royal bloodline, you were of a higher standing than others. If you came from a noble bloodline, you were of a higher standing from peasants and regular people, but not royals, and so on.
