After reading and watching The Great Gatsby, I now have a firm picture in my mind about the story. The movie brought another aspect to the picture that the novel could not produce. The music used in the movie brought more senses to gather the bigger picture. The songs, “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody,” “Back to Black,” and “Young and Beautiful” capture the pleasure, lust, and dreams that The Great Gatsby portrays.
“A Little Party Never Killed Nobody,” brings in the mood of the roaring twenties and introduces some points found in both the movie and novel. The mood can be found in, “A little party never killed nobody, so we gon’ dance until we drop / A little party never killed nobody, right here, right now’s all we got,” (lines 3 and 4), and “Glad that you made it, look around / You don’t see one person sitting down / They for drinks in their hands and the room’s a bust / At the end of the night maybe you’ll find love,” (lines 11-14).
