In order to effectively answer this question, we must first address what political socialization is. Political socialization is the “informal training process that instills in us our sense of identity, belonging, and community. With the invention of television, the phone and social media, information is constantly being poured out to the millions of people, inevitably shaping one’s political viewpoint. “The credibility of a political party, candidate, or issue is directly tied to the degree of positive or negative televised coverage the item or issue receives” (Stowitts-Traina 96). The power of being able to reach the vast majority of the population gives the media great power as an agent to political socialization, but one must remember that they are a profit-making business. They don’t “not present in-depth analysis of political events and issues” and do a “poor job of explaining political issues, often presenting superficial facts and highlighting controversy to entice viewers and higher ratings” (Stowitts-Traina 96)

For both the political parties, “the state executive committee which is composed of a chairperson, vice chairperson, and one man and one woman from each of the state’s thirty-one state senatorial districts” (Stowitts-Traina 59), which are selected at the state’s party convention.
At the local level, the party organization consist of county/district committee and precinct committee which is the “lowest level of the political party structure” (Stowitts-Traina 60).
The distribution of power in recent trends shows that “they tend to overlap, and more often than not, state and local parties have more influence than the national party around their region, and their decisions tend to override those of the national party” (Lumen Learning, Party Organization)
