Answer: ERG theory divides the needs to 3 categories as the growth needs, relatedness needs and existence needs. People are motivated by different by different things or needs. Another motivational theory is the Herzberg’s Two Factor theory which says that there are 2 kinds of factors which motivate. One set is the hygiene factors, the absence of which motivate. Then there are motivators, the presence of which motivates. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs provides the pyramid to show as to from where the motivations come from and it is important for a manager to understands. As far as the healthcare managers are concerned, ERG theory can also provide most value as it divides the needs into three categories which are very much relevant to healthcare.
