The way he introduced himself to the family was astonishing. That is Impression Management and Honesty for this particular topic. In my opinion, I also think that the Prentice family had the first impressions of Joanna, and it was probably that she was marring him for money or out of pity. Both of families believed their love was all a lie until they gave in through the entire film. The difficult person to convince was Joanna’s father. At first, he thought John was nothing more than a doctor until he realized that he is more than a doctor to her daughter. This had changed everything on a whole other level as soon as he realized it. He did not like the idea of the management just by taking an idea from appearance – how he looked, dressed etc. His impressions on John were good at first, but changed throughout the movie. On a positive note, the priest was so pleased about the news and only saw John like any good mannered man for Joanna. Priest congratulated the couple and blessed them for happiness with their lives together. This made me pleased about this because it was good to see that for every negative person there may be for mixed couples. There is always a person in each’s life, who will support you through all out of your choices. In the middle of the movie, the secretary shows up to talk to Mrs. Drayton. I still see people judging each other from how they look and dress. People don’t see true love in each other. It is a sad thing to see a film create what it’s always been like, it let us know not to forget about something that has been discussed about a lot nowadays. Love is binding and it will always conquer anything. No matter the race or place you come from. The ending gave the whole plot some closure, where Mr. Drayton made the family understand that he has not forgotten about love and he has finally realized that if it’s something he has felt once in his life and it has made him happy. He doesn’t see why he has to disagree with the engagement anymore. This concludes that this film fit perfectly for the types of communication we read about in chapters 1 through 5. The fact, that no matter the negative support the received, it didn’t make Joanna or John love each other any less. It’s what makes the film and idea of it all so strong. Another thing I realized is that compared to now and back then, young couples get married with or without their parent’s blessings. In my opinion, Joanna and John did something that any couple should do before getting
