Today the students were instructed to participate in an art activity as part of a Columbus Day lesson. All of the students finished the assignment in a reasonable time. The fast finishers were given the option to choose an activity they wanted to participate in for free play. Jacob was still working on his assignment and began to notice that he was one of the few students left to finish. He then indicated to me that he could not finish the activity and that it was too hard. I provided him with encouragement and replied that he was almost done and could complete the assignment. Two minutes later, I notice that Jacob was crying. When I approached him and asked what was wrong, he replied that he did not like to color.
