I am the oldest of four siblings, and we growing up in a poor neighborhood in rural Vietnam. I was only thirteen years old when my father became disabled as a result of an injury to the lumbar vertebrae. All the rooms in Gia Lai general hospital were full on that day. For my disabled father, there was no room at the hospital. After his initial X-rays, my father was placed in a spare meeting room. I was there every day. Visiting him, helping his daily hygiene, and eating a meal with him. The nurses not only looked after my father but also supported my family understand and cope what was happening. Like other immigrants, I face challenges in finding jobs and finances in this country. I am working as a kitchen cleaner in a Vietnamese restaurant in order to provide some of my basic living expenses. In addition to being an English Language learner, I am a father of a 4-month-old daughter and 3-year-old son. I worked diligently to care for my family and give them everything I could. I have the challenge of juggling child-rearing, family life, and work. However, I have chosen to return to school after thirteen years. My family is the motivation for me to go college no matter the obstacles. My children will not be hungry, not being in debt. College not only gives an opportunity to change my life but also provides me with experiences like leadership skills, communication skills, and many academic knowledge. If I do not complete my college degree, I could never have the opportunity to achieve my career
