College Essay On Becoming A Nurse

Becoming a nurse was not my career choice but a calling. I have always been fascinated by the advances in medicine and healthcare. After I earned my bachelor’s degree, I had the privilege to complete my internship at the Sedgwick County Health Department. Although I enjoyed the experience working in within the health promotions and prevention sector, I knew I wanted a career that allowed me to be more hands on and provide face to face interaction. During my internship I was fortunate to volunteer my services in the nursing department at the clinic and watched tireless nurses assist patients physically and emotionally with a smile. A nurse possesses amazing responsibility to care for a patient who you don’t know but treat them as if they were your closest relative. I am determined to be exceptional nurse and I am confident that my acquire skills and compassion for others will make a difference in someone’s life. I want to be an advocate and champion for promoting healthy lifestyles and overall well-being. I am eager and ready to embark on a new journey to be become a great nurse.
Completing the accelerated nursing program will not be an easy task. The curriculum will be challenging and my instructors will continuously encourage and influence me every step of the way. Time management will be one of my biggest concerns. While completing the program I will be obtaining a job to help pay for college and living expenses. Thankfully I have a wonderful employer who is aware of my career goal and will adjust to my schedule. I believe the key to success is staying organized. Formulating a plan well in advance will keep me on track and will reduce stress. I plan to allow additional time to study and attend study groups with my peers.
