Time, effort, and the coach’s rules are a major factor in being a member. Time management is one of the most important aspects. Players cannot waste time so they have to plan out their days and weeks. It takes up a lot of time and the players do not get to do many things they want to do. They have to work a lot harder because the talent level is a lot higher and it is more competitive. Rules such as sitting in the front two rows of every class, making good grades, completing study hall hours, having a certain hair length, and wearing a Tech baseball hat a certain way are required by the coach. There are many things that these athletes like and dislike about being on the team. Mark VanDenLangenberg stated, “I hate how sore and tired I am all the time. They have to balance their academic life, social life, practice and games. Practice begins at 3 PM and ends at 5:30 PM. Practice consist of throwing, hitting, going over plays, and from 6:30 to 8:30 they lift weights. There are many pros and cons of being a college baseball player. Mark VanDenLangenberg stated, “The pros are all of the friends you make and the places you get to visit. The best part is the brotherhood because you get to experience everything all together. The cons are that it takes up a lot of time and you do not get to do many things you want to do.
