College Admissions Essay: I Want To Be A Christian

Decent Essays
I just finished the first two part of the book and I feel inspired. I never thought about the me I want to be before today. I guess I have because I knew I wanted to continue my education find a good job and be happy in my life but never in the perspective on the me God wants me to be. I always thought that my life was my own life to make the best or worst of it, never that God created me for a reason. I know understand that God made me to flourish and be the best me I can be. I just thought that being religious and being Christian I would have to change myself to be someone else , I guess that’s why I’m so hesitant to surrender myself to God. I want to accept God’s gift and become a better person but I think I’m still finding my place with Him and still learning of Him. …show more content…
I believe the me I am needs to be more open about speaking about God , no one know I’m searching for my path or attending a Christian university , not that I’m embarrassed but I’m concerned I won’t be as Christian as the rest , this is the me I don’t want be ….still skeptical . I want to grow with God I honesty do, I learned that my relationship with God will not be similar to others , so I don’t feel discouraged that I might be on the wrong path . I’m on the right path because I want to let Him guide me and I’m slowly accepting my thoughts and feeling of being a Christian .Ortberg said “the holy spirit is always ready to guide you towards God” (2010,p44). I believe this because when I was searching for schools to attended I didn’t think of PBA it just happened , I called the wrong university then the next thing I was enrolled , had the finical assistance I needed and something inside me told me this was my path

I look forward to reading it again in the future because I think that it has so much to offer and I think that it will speak to me in different ways at different times. Every time I turned the page I had my highlighter in hand and was just so fascinated by the words that Taylor had wrote, so many things hit home for me, and there is pink highlighter all over in the book. I kept thinking of people I knew, who would really love this book, or who would really have their eyes opened with this book. I think I really can associate myself as a reflective Christian now, and reading this helped affirm questions and ideas I had about other Christians or subcultures. I really enjoyed Taylors interludes about the character Alex, and how it showed examples of different Christians and it gave you a little break from what the book was actually talking about.…

There are many reasons why I want to get my degree from Colorado Christian University. One of the most important reasons for me came on August nineteenth two-thousand fifteen at eight thirty-seven pm, a blessing was brought into my life. That blessing that God gave me was my little baby girl named Emery Sue Schmidt. At that moment I decided that I needed to be a good role model for my daughter. I realized one of the best ways is to get enrolled in college and start taking classes.…

Without Jesus, we are nothing. Jesus himself said in the bible that he is the vine and we are the branches. If we remain with him, we will bear fruits, but without him, we will not. While attending university, many Christians derail from their faith because of the temptations they face. Alcohol, drugs, and new philosophies surround them within their college campuses.…

An unusually fragile underclassman: devoid of faith and fearful of a new environment brimming with the cold embrace of the unknown. “What do you like about yourself?” Sitting in the audience, listening to an assembly during my freshman orientation of high school, this existential question hit me like a tidal wave—initially destructive yet ultimately metamorphic. Those around me blessed with a wealth of confidence from a young age beamed with vanity: athletes, scholars, musicians and those exceptionally precocious few with the ability to thrive in multiple environments.…

The book How People Change by Timothy S. Lane and Paul David Tripp discusses the topic of how true change can occur in the life of someone who has tried everything and failed. In this book the authors explain the many different ways believers may be sidetracked while following Christ, including desiring a knowledge of Him more than a relationship with Him, and allowing their church to become more important than Christ in their lives. They compare the believer’s relationship to Christ to a marriage, and we as the bride inherit the assets of Christ, while He takes our liabilities. It is only when we understand this true relationship with Him that we will be able to change our understanding about ourselves and gradually learn to produce the good fruit of the spirit rather than the bad fruit of the flesh.…

Message of the Book I suggest that he most significant message of Revolution of Character is that there are six dimensions, with the “heart” at the center, that need to work in the proper order and unison for spiritual maturity to occur in the believer. These dimensions are “thoughts”, “feelings”, “the heart”, “the body”, “social context” and, finally, the soul with the sole being what ties the other five together. Also important to this is understand that Willard/Simpson seems to use the terms “heart” and “spirit” and “will” equally and/or interchangeably. “From the contents of our heat, we see our world and interpret reality” (pg 12). It is through the heart and the six areas noted above that eventually allow us to become a reflection…

I believe that God will always love me and if I do something wrong, (which has happened a lot and will continue to happen throughout my lifetime) I can ask for forgiveness and if I truly want forgiveness, God will forgive me. I’m pretty involved in my church and I try to go to youth meetings and activities, but lately I haven’t felt like going.…

On August 26, 2005, I gave my life to Christ, and it was the start of a whole new chapter of my journey. I still remember that night vividly in my head. The feelings of excitement, joy, and love were very tangible in my heart. My mom and dad were both sitting beside me on my bed while I was told the importance of this decision and how my life would never be the same. Even at 5 years old, I was aware of my decision to follow Jesus and accept him into my heart.…

    1. I think it is important for Christians to exist within community especially when dealing with difficult life circumstances, sins, or emotional and relational issues because we suffer from identity amnesia. We suffer from placing our identity in the things of creation rather than in Christ and His great work of salvation and sanctification. We are blind to our own sins and self-righteousness and are a people in desperate need. We are in great need for others who are broken and know of the great grace of Christ to look into our lives and point us to Christ, point us to His cross, point us to His Word, point us to His grace and sufficiency.…
