In the play, Romeo’s girl obsession got him into several sticky situations. At first, Romeo said he is in love with Rosaline. He was obsessed with her and was willing to do anything in order to be with her. Romeo even went to the Capulet’s party and got spotted by Tybalt. Tybalt thought that Romeo was there to make fun of the Capulets, so Tybalt wanted to fight him. He said, “To fleer and scorn at our solemnity/ Now, by the stock and honor of my kin/ To strike him dead, I hold it not a sin” (I v 57-59). Later in the play, Tybalt was in the streets of Verona and wanted to fight Romeo, but he was not there to fight, so Mercutio took his place. It went from Rosaline to Juliet in a heartbeat. Romeo thought she was beautiful the second he saw her. He said, “Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight!/ For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night” (I v 52-53). Because Romeo’s impulsiveness leads him into taking extreme actions, he goes up to Juliet, and dances with her. While they dance, Romeo kisses Juliet, and she falls instantly in love with him. Romeo leaves the party, and Juliet finds out that Romeo is a Montague. She said, “My only love sprung from my only hate” (I v 138).
