Collaboration In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

At the first sight of the play Romeo and Juliet, one would suspect it to be a love story. The reader must actually read the play in order to find out that it is not a love story, but it is a story about Romeo, who is obsessed with a Juliet the second he sees her. Romeo’s obsession and desperation lead to a story of secrets, so called “love”, and death.
In the play, Romeo’s girl obsession got him into several sticky situations. At first, Romeo said he is in love with Rosaline. He was obsessed with her and was willing to do anything in order to be with her. Romeo even went to the Capulet’s party and got spotted by Tybalt. Tybalt thought that Romeo was there to make fun of the Capulets, so Tybalt wanted to fight him. He said, “To fleer and scorn at our solemnity/ Now, by the stock and honor of my kin/ To strike him dead, I hold it not a sin” (I v 57-59). Later in the play, Tybalt was in the streets of Verona and wanted to fight Romeo, but he was not there to fight, so Mercutio took his place. Mercutio was then killed by Tybalt, and Tybalt was killed by Romeo. Both deaths were the cause of Romeo’s desperation.

It went from Rosaline to Juliet in a heartbeat. Romeo thought she was beautiful the second he saw her. He said, “Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight!/ For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night” (I v 52-53). Because Romeo’s impulsiveness leads him into taking extreme actions, he goes up to Juliet, and dances with her. While they dance, Romeo kisses Juliet, and she falls instantly in love with him. Romeo leaves the party, and Juliet finds out that Romeo is a Montague. She said, “My only love sprung from my only hate” (I v 138). Juliet’s obsession, just like Romeo’s, begins too quickly for it to be real
