Collette Dinnigan was the first Australian to launch a ‘ready-to-wear’ collection; she has been launching her exhibition in London and Paris. She has designed a variety of fashion products and has been worn by leaders of world fashion. She also achieved so many rewards for her outstanding creative and intellectual in the Australian Fashion Industry. In this essay, it will inform the history and background of Collette Dinnigan and it will critically analyse about her designs on how it has been successful in term of aesthetic appeal, ethical practice and functional considerations.

Dinnigan’s designs featuring romantic, often understated styles and hand-embellished textiles. The desgins are more tradtional than Dinnigan’s ready-to-wear collections, reflecting the more conservative market for wedding dresses. One of her bridal design, which is called Swarvoski Drapes V-neck dress made in 2004, was inspired by the design term called art deco. It is made from silk tulle and nylon. As the audience can see that this dress was covered with Swarovski crystals represents Dinnigan’s transition from evening to bridal wear. This dressed was made into a close fitting shaped to show the shape of the body with full-length skirt that goes down to the
