One way the cognitive psychology theory would be supported in my professional life is by providing a framework for children so that I can interpret their feelings, behaviors and thoughts. The cognitive psychology theory is also short -lived in nature and aligned towards problem solving. The cognitive psychology theory helps me work on the child’s current situation by helping them identify emotional comfort or distress, teaching them how to use positive thinking, and teaching them how process and express their feelings. As a counselor, I can also apply the cognitive psychology theory by helping children overcome their difficulties and help them meet their goals. You would also have to obtain a state license if your state requires one. Students who want to become counselors will also benefit by having a minor in a specialized field. These fields include education, family therapy, marriage counseling, rehabilitation or education counseling. Sometimes employers offer additional training to new counselors on staff. License requirements are different from state to state. Family, marriage and public-school counselors are required to have a state license to work.
