Cognitive barriers causes the individual to not be aware of their process which the individual would have a difficult time in handing vast amount of information to draw logical conclusion. Handedly large amount of complex information and trying to simplify to an audience with little to no knowledge can lead to miss the focus of the assignment and amount of time spent in sorting the information will lead the individual to lose concentration. Time consuming is a factor when it comes to critical thinking as there are things in when where the individual will only have limit amount of time in finding a solution. Also time consuming is an issue that many faced which leads them into not have a time set for practice critical thinking outside of their schedule. Analysts will need to adapt themselves to new changes and testing out new ways in order to reach an answer. As stated by Hendrickson, “Analysts acquire knowledge not simply for its own sake, but instead to specifically address the challenges faced by their consumers.” Sometimes it can be difficult for some to actively use critical thinking skills as some individual will have a difficult time in understanding in how it can be applied to their given issue. Not everyone solves the complex problems the same way since there will be individuals in where they will be able to use critical thinking with the decision making system types in their assignment in trying to find the most effective answer. With that in mind, the individual will come across with difficult decisions, as not all answers are black or white. The individual can come up with multiple answers for the assignment, but each will have a unique outcome with leading to unknown areas into where it can create more issues than before. A number of issues can raise from the outcomes, in which the individual’s emotional behavior can alter their final decision. If the Analyst starts to question their process, it will lead them to reduce their amount of collaboration with other analyst as the individual will fear of being wrong. As stated by Lengbeyer, “The upshot is that an individual’s thinking, even thinking that is critical, remains ever susceptible to error” Even with all the issues of one’s critical thinking skill and the environment its apply to, the analyst can adapt to the environment. This leads the individual to enhance their critical thinking skill as the analyst will be able to gain the knowledge of others. Over time, the analyst will feel more confident in making risk decisions. Even when there are tell-tell
