Becoming a certified boat coxswain is the goal and responsibility of all third class boatswains’ mates. I would like the Coast Guard to establish a cohesive plan to train, and fund education to generate qualified BM3 coxswains in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. Once they graduate A-school there is no solid plan or funding to ensure the reserve member’s training stays on schedule and completes their training within the required time frame. The process for a Reserve BM3 to become a coxswain is a long and difficult journey.…
Wolves Clayton Hull-Crew wrote an editorial on the US-Represented website reflecting on the reintroduction of wolves into the Yellowstone National Park. Hull-Crew states that the wolves have been responsible for a major ecological shift beginning at the top of the food chain, slowly making its way to the bottom, effecting everything from beaver dams to river bed erosion. Hull-Crew claims that the wolves have created what is called a “Trophic Cascade” of events. A Trophic cascade is, “an ecological phenomenon triggered by the addition or removal of top predators and involving reciprocal changes in the relative populations of predator and prey through a food chain, which often results in dramatic changes in ecosystem structure and nutrient cycling.…

I am currently stuck inside of General Zaroff’s cabin who is planning to hunt me in a couple of days, yes hunt ME, a human being. My life is in a lot danger, and there are few ways to possibly escape. Please send help as soon as possible! I never really knew what Ship-Trap Island was or why it had that nickname, but what I did know was that the island had an eerie reputation among ships and sailors. By now all the pieces of the puzzle sure have been put together for me.…

Enlisted members of the Fusion Liaison & Intelligence Training Unit have the fundamental responsibility to facilitate information sharing between the ROIC, law enforcement and public entities, as well as, afford training opportunities for all members of the intelligence community. I believe my current role as the Division M.A.P.P.S Coordinator provides me with a solid foundation to transition into the position of Lieutenant in the posted vacancy. Additionally, I previously served within the Special Projects Unit and as an intelligence research analyst within the Street Gang Unit.…

Almost four years ago, I entered Clackamas High School as a confused, shy, awkward freshman. Soon after entering the hallways of this school, I was assigned to a Freshman Assurance group and met with the group leaders. My group leaders were vivacious seniors, who were condescending and gave very little advice on high school. I felt a little intimidated by them, and the activities that they led made most of the freshmen in our group uncomfortable. They told us about their craziest stories and about the teachers who weren't of the most pleasant experience.…
I wish to bring this same focus and determination to the Air Force as an Officer to help make a difference. Gaining an Air Force commission will be the toughest challenge I have faced, and I am ready for the opportunity to make difference. Thank you for considering my…
Aquatic Defense The United States has a few branches of the military. They all have important jobs that make them unique, but they also all have similarities. Two branches that are often debated are the Navy and the Coast Guard. The United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard have been said to be the same branches by some, and completely different by others.…
The Arrival There have been many reports on an island, often visited by hunters, regarding cannibalism. In this news article, these concerns, as well as secrets, will be addressed. I will share my adventure to the Ship-Trap Island. I had originally planned to travel to Rio on September 5th through September 12th. A perspicacious and experienced hunter named Rainsford accompanied me.…
This past summer, I underwent many swim tests and was finally offered a lifeguarding position at a local town beach and waterpark. I eagerly accepted the offer and was excited to start. When I arrived on my first day, I was informed that there had not been a save in our shallow water facility for the past nine years. But, that nine year save streak ended this summer. A coworker noticed that a man had went underwater and quickly blew a whistle to inform everyone at our facility that there was an emergency.…
My first year at Cedar Shoals was unforgettable, I had no idea what to expect. Most people consider going into highschool as one of the big parts of your life. I was hesitant for the change since I was going into a much bigger school and meeting new people. I went into freshman year with a positive mindset, making new friends & knowing it was going to be MY year. I had faced many successes academically and faced a few failures that I am going to improve my sophomore year so I don’t make the same mistakes.…
The time I went to Outer Banks, NC with all of my family from my mom’s side was probably the most fun I had in a while. It was early and a little cold outside when we all met up my Aunts house to load the cars. After talking about how this week long vacation was going to be so fun we realized it was time for a brutal 7hr road trip. The car ride consisted of me and two of my cousins in the back squished because of all the food we took, my dad constantly asking about directions which prevented me and my cousins from sleeping because of how loud he was, and my cousin’s smelly armpits. My cousin was usually the one who was always smelling good, but that time I guess he forgot to put deodorant on.…
Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be a police officer or a law enforcement official. When my childhood home was burgled, the first responders’ priority was to ensure that my family and I were safe. My experience with law enforcement had a positive impact on my life because of the officers’ devotion and dedication to public service and safety. I made an effort to begin devoting my life to public service and be a part of something greater than myself through enlisting in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and working as a Security Officer. I wish to continue with my endeavors in the field of law enforcement.…
