Once the community needs assessment is finished, it can be used to write the second part of the CNEP, the program planning. The purpose of this part of the project is to develop a new program or strengthen an existing program in order to fix the nutritional problem that was identified in the community needs assessment. There are five main steps to follow that will ensure the program contains all the necessary information to be implemented in the community.
The first step, which is perhaps the most important, is to provide a description of the program and identify the program’s goals and objectives. The goals will state the overall outcome of the program, while the objectives will state specific outcomes that will be met in order to reach the …show more content…
This section focuses on the nutrition-related goals and objectives and the plan to reach the desired outcomes. It describes the format of the program, includes the lesson plans, and states the program identifiers. For the Dining Around the World News program, this section focuses on the goal of increasing knowledge or worldly cuisines for the residents at Sanctuary of Woodland, describes the newsletter’s format and lesson plan, and states the program identifier, which includes the title of the program and the tagline. This section is basically describing how the program will work to solve the nutritional issue that was identified in the community needs …show more content…
In order for any program to be implemented with minimal issues, having an organized plan is key. A timeline is a great place to start for creating an organized plan because it sets the guidelines for each step and determines when each step will be completed. An organizational chart will show the staff that is needed to make the program successful, and will define which people are responsible. Lastly, extramural funds may be needed in order for a program to be implemented. Identifying where outside sources of funding may come from may be beneficial for programs that are costly to implement and run. The Dining Around the World News program includes a detailed timeline explaining how and when the program should be implemented, and how it will be maintained in the future. The organizational chart also defines the staff involved in the program and who the leaders are. Extramural funds weren’t necessary for this program, but they were still
