The cause of clubfoot is idiopathic. Scientists came to a conclusion that it is not caused because of the way the baby is positioned in the fetus. There are nonsurgical treatments such as casting or
splinting that is usually tried first. The foot is moved into the most normal position and held in the same position until the next treatment. The Ponseti method is one of the main treatments that involves weekly sessions with a specialist. The specialist manipulates the baby’s foot with their hands to gradually alter the bend in the foot. Also, clubfoot can relapse again, which means that the treatments may have to be repeated again and the foot will have to be manipulated again.
Clubfoot is not preventable because doctors usually don’t know what causes it. There are many ways to limit your baby’s risk of clubfoot such as not smoking or spending time in smoky environments, not drinking alcohol, avoiding drugs not approved by your doctor. Since it is unknown as to why clubfoot is caused, it can’t be prevented. This skeletal disorder can only be treated. Once, doctors or scientist finds the causes of clubfoot then they will start to develop ways to prevent this
