The closed stratification system has been defined as “A system in which movement from one social position to another is limited by ascribed status, such as, sex, skin color, and family background” (Benokraitis, 2014, p. 137). Therefore, a closed system has been determined to be less flexible than, the open system. There are two different examples of a closed system, which have occurred, first one is slavery and the second would be castes (Benokraitis, 2014).
