The main tool used was a web-based questionnaire composed of 4 scenarios, where the respondents need to judge on as if they are health care providers, followed by 6 questions asking explicitly about health and happiness tradeoffs. Sample size was 1015 and respondents were divided into “traders” and “non-traders” subgroups based on their answers, for statistical analysis. The study concluded that the first hypothesis is valid and people are mostly considering the effect of both and happiness in healthcare decision making, but failed to prove the second hypothesis as both health and happiness also matters in critical situations and priority settings. The major conclusion then, that a broader clinical intervention outcome measure need to be considered to cover the well-being full spectrum.
