First it should be acknowledged that according to 97% of climate scientists, the rate of global warming trends the planet is currently suffering is not a natural occurrence, but is predominantly the outcome of human activity. In order to recognize how human activity is causing this, it is important to first introduce the greenhouse effect. This effect is caused by the interaction between incoming radiation from the sun and the Earth’s atmosphere and is crucial for the existence of life on our planet, as it is responsible for keeping the Earth’s surface much warmer than it would be otherwise, allowing water to stay liquid over most of the surface.
