Cleopatra was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 69 BDE (Tour Egypt 2). Her father was Ptolemy XII and her mother was Cleopatra VI (Lewis 1). She had five sibling including three sisters Cleopatra VII, Berenice IV, and Arsinoe IV and then two brothers Ptolmey XIII and Ptolmey XIV (Tour Egypt 2). Cleopatra and her whole family were not Egyptian but what was called Macedonian Greek. Macedonian Greek meaning Greek in customs, languages, and traditions (Escodavi). Cleopatra and Julius Caesar first met when she was 21 and he was 52. She had herself rolled up in a carpet and delivered to his home. After they met Cleopatra had won his support. Cleopatra soon after gaining his support became his mistress and then Caesar used his army to defeat and destroy Cleopatra’s rival for power in Egypt, her brother and husband Ptolemy XIII (Watkins 4). Doing this restored power in Cleopatra and her other brother Ptolemy XIV (Lewis 2). Caesar and Cleopatra were never married but they did have a son. Caesarion is Cleopatra’s first born and she claims that he is the son of Caesar even though he never confirmed it. After Caesar’s death Cleopatra married Antony and they have three children. The first set of children Cleopatra and Antony had were Alexander Helios and Cleopatra Selene who are twins. A few years after the birth of the twins they had Ptolemy Philadelphos (Lewis 2). Out of all four of Cleopatra’s children only one lived to adulthood (Park). Octavian had Caesarion killed but spared the lives of the three children Cleopatra had with Antony. The other two, Alexander Helios and Ptolemy Philadelphos died in childhood. Cleopatra Selene was the only one of Cleopatra’s children to survive. Eventually Selene was married to Juba II a protégé of Octavian who became ruler of Numidia (Jarus
