1. Clement Greenberg was a highly influential art critic that focused on mid-20th century modern art. Mark Rothko was an abstract expressionist artist that started off making art that was representational. He went from creating figurative works that were inspired by mythology to making abstract, Colour Field paintings. However, his works weren’t just focused on colours; Rothko once said that ‘If you are only moved by color relationships, you are missing the point.
