Each society has their own variety of democracy. The two known varieties are direct and representative. These three subdivisions created the demokratia. Demokratia was known as “rule by the people.” (History.com Staff 2010) Each subdivision had a different role in the government which range from writing laws, and selecting random jurors in court. Ancient Greece had a voting qualification of any male, not a salve was able to travel to Agora and gather for the Assembly.
