When choosing a face wash many people just pick the product that tells them what they want to hear; but if the consumers do not know what chemicals they are using on their face, then how do they know that the product will indeed leave their skin free of acne. Consumers need to be more informed about the product that they are using on their skin. Clearasil UltraⓇ Rapid Action Daily Face Wash is distributed by Reckitt Benckiser LLC out of Parsippany, New Jersey. This product is sold as a fast acting acne medication which promises visibly clearer skin in twelve hours. Several products include many chemical products, but the consumer needs to be informed about what chemicals they are using on their skin, and if they can cause harm. The only active ingredient in this face wash is Salicylic Acid. Salicylic Acid is a crystalline structure, usually white, and can be found in dust form. This chemical is a covalent bond that includes Carbon, Oxygen, and Hydrogen. Being that Salicylic Acid is the only active ingredient in the product, it is also the most important ingredient. Glycerin is a colorless, and odorless liquid that is made out of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen. It is also a covalent bond that is soluble in water. The one main purpose of Glycerin in the product is to prevent the dryness of the skin. Another one of the inactive ingredients is Sodium Laureth Sulfate. This chemical is an ionic compound that includes Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Sulfate, and Sodium. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is a white and cream colored substance that is usually seen in flake or powder form. This chemical compound is included in the face wash because it is used as a foaming agent.
