In simple terms, two stimuli are linked together to produce a newly learned response in a person or animal. There are three stages of classical conditioning. At each stage the stimuli and responses are given special scientific terms(McLeod, S. A. 2014) Stage one the unconditioned stimulus produces an unconditioned response this stage also includes a neutral stimulus which could be a person, place or thing that is not yet compared to the response. Stage two the neutral stimuli now gets associated with the conditioned stimulus, meaning they are starting to associate a person, place or thing with a specific reaction. And the finale stage the conditioned stimulus is completely associated with the conditioned response.
Operant conditioning is a method of learning that occurs through rewards and punishments for behavior. Through operant conditioning, an individual makes an association between a particular behavior and a consequence(McLeod, S. A. 2018)According to this principle, behavior that is followed by pleasant consequences is likely to be repeated, and behavior followed by unpleasant consequences is less likely to be repeated. During this conditioning phase the level of conditioning is based on the frequency of punishment or
