In the past, freedom of speech was very limited for black people and Latino people because they are the minority in the America compare to white people. They had less right to speak up for their own opinions; it really depended on the skin color. Those minority people was being racist by the majority people, they always had to hear the most hateful of racist comment. However, today, freedom of speech is for everyone, it does not matter if people are Black, Asian, Latino, etc, they still be able speak up for your thoughts because the racism act will commit as a crime and First amendment will guarantee to support everyone's freedom of speech. Another significant examples of how freedom of speech are changing in the U.S throughout these court cases. First will be the Mutual Film Corporation v, Ohio in 1915, the court declared that showing movies was not a part of the press. Once again, the government had expanded another aspect of free speech in the first Amendment. Last but not least is the Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association in 2010, the Supreme Court video games is type of speech that be protected by the First Amendment. However, California wanted to ban of selling violent games, then the Court said that the ban was unconstitutional. Freedom of speech today is come from so many different from motion pictures to video games today. The second civil right that is playing the big role in the community is freedom of religion.
