In Roman Mars’ Ted Talk he addresses something he says “100 percent of people care about” which is flag designs. Flags stir up something in people, their designs just make our emotions go wild. In the United States there are amazing examples of city flags as well as very horrible flags. The really great ones abide by a short list of guidelines which make for a good flag and good design. The first rule is to keep it simple, something that can easily be drawn from memory. The meaningful use of symbolism is the second rule, the colors or any patterns used should be directly related to what they are supposed to symbolize.
