Today, devastatingly adequate housing remains an inaccessible right for millions of aboriginals worldwide. Access to one’s standard living is a human right. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to housing. Considering the fact, that certain equalities stand in between; making equality harder to achieve. For one, ethnicity matters the most for standards of living.Specifically speaking, Canada lacks access to housing for aboriginals and almost, 52.6 % aboriginals are forced/willingly live on reserves with unwelcoming factors such as, few social services, poor sanitation,poor water quality,infectious diseases,growing population and poverty.These individuals dreamt of going to school, having access to nearby …show more content…
This may not seem fair, but this is the living reality for these aboriginals who are restricted from their rights to standard living affecting their opportunities towards a brighter future.Living on resvers have affceted the lives of thousands of aboriginals.For example,an aboriginal youth is more likely to end up in jail than graduate high school. Also,there is 22% less funded welfare fare, an average income of $15, 958 a year and 61% of young aboriginal adults from ages 20-24 haven’t completed high school which is the opposite of a non-aboriginal. The foundation Project of heart advocates to raise awareness for the numerous aboriginal deaths due to the lack of standard of living and accessibility to resources such as, food,water, proper shelter, hospitals, stores, warm clothing and money which is recognized by numerous people worldwide who stand up for aboriginals and want to make a change. We all can learn from this organization’s footsteps and get involved by supporting other organizations including the OICE; donating for projects that will ensure to benefit aboriginals and taking full initiative in your own community.
