On the plains of Africa, in the heart of the safari the last thoughts to cross one’s mind are teenage girls, unless you live in that concrete safari called high school awaiting the fate of being declared the prey or the predator. When it comes to typical portrayal of high school, it is always a sure bet that the cast will contain the “loser”, the “alpha female”, the “jock”, the “minions”, and the animal instincts of human nature. With each additional scene another layer of stereotype-flavored frosting is added to the cultural cake. The film begins with tribal drumming and plays the sound throughout the rest of it. Being the new girl, Cady is trying to understand the social rules and has a hard time when she encounters the girls known as “The Plastics.” The leader of the plastics is Regina George Regina. Regina is bully and has to be the center of attention. She is a born leader and rules her school and her home so when Cady’s presence potentially jeopardizes this she takes action. Being from Africa, Cady is constantly comparing her surroundings to the African jungle. Her first day of school she contrasts the behaviors of apes to the students by how close they all are, so it is no shock when in the chosen artifact Cady day dreams how a fight in the animal kingdom would take place by leaping across the lunch table to attack Regina.
