Half-a-million people attend Fiesta Broadway in Los Angeles, the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration in the world, which consists of games, food, and music. This symbolizes that the holiday is of greater importance in the United States than it is in Mexico. Additionally, other cities in the United States that hold extravagant festivities on the holiday consist of: Denver, Houston, and New York. Americans commemorate the holiday through means of hosting Cinco de Mayo centered parties, decorating with colors of the Mexican flag, wearing festive costumes, and buying party decorations associated with Mexican culture. Holiday decorations consist of balloons, streamers, flowers, papel picado (a decorative paper), along with flowers. Mariachi bands and Mexican folk music are played at these celebrations, and traditional Mexican dances commence during the celebrations. Reenactments of the war occur commonly for residents, visitors, and tourists to experience. Annually, a parade with more than 20,000 attendees is run along Boulevard Cinco de Mayo in Puebla. Some genres of music played are: mariachi, meringue, salsa, and Latin. As people dance to the music, women wear flowy, long, and radiant gowns, while men on the other hand wear trousers and a shirt, topped off with a sombrero or a colorful serape (a traditional Mexican body scarf).Some foods that are consumed include Mole Poblano,a chili sauce made ingredients including nuts and Mexican chocolate, is served over chicken or turkey.
