INTRODUCTION: Cigarettes contain more than 4000 chemical compounds and at least 400 substances that proved to be toxic in nature by influencing many organs of the body that may be in direct or indirect contact with the smoke. The impact of heavy smoking is that every year around 100,000 people die, with many more deaths caused by the other smoking related issues. Before we start with this article we need to have prior understanding regarding heavy smoking, toxic constituents of the cigarette and their impact on the body.

These policy measures are examined on the basis of studies conducted on the smokers in different countries.
