LS is 25 y/o white female nulligravida who presents for treatment of chronic pelvic pain. She had the onset of severe dysmenorrhea at 16 years of age. Soon after that she was started on cyclical combined oral contraceptives (OCs) by her pediatrician as a treatment for dysmenorrhea. Over the past year and a half, her dysmenorrhea has worsened, despite continuous treatment with combined OCs. She now experiences pelvic pain throughout the month, rather than only with menstruation. She currently rates her pelvic pain at an intensity of 4 to 6 on a scale of 10 on most days, and as a 10 of 10 during menses. Additionally, she became sexually active about 6 months ago and over the past 3 months has had severe pain with intercourse.
