Christopher Boone

The book that I chose to read was The Curious Incident of the Dog At Night-time it is about a teenager named Christopher Boone and his life. The book is written from his perspective and talks mostly about his life with mild autism and his family relationships. Christopher’s autism makes what most people may think of as a simple task, very difficult. For example when Christopher had to ride the subway he was very scared, so much so that could barely function, this was triggered by of the amount of people around him. For me these struggles are not something I was familiar with before reading this book. This is because I myself do not struggle the same way he does also because, I had not taken the time to put myself in the shoes of someone who struggles this way.
Christophers family is very much broken, his mother left him and his father when he was young. Leaving Christopher's father to raise him. Instead of explaining to Christopher that his mother had left them he told Christopher that his mother had died. Later when Christopher found letters from his mother addressed to him he learns the truth, that his mother left him and was not dead. Again this is not something that I can heavily relate to given that I have never experienced a situation like this before in my life.

Reading this book was very eye opening for me and made me think about things that I otherwise wouldn’t have really known about. Like how some people need to have things a certain way, before I read this book if I had heard about a boy who wouldn’t eat anything yellow I would have honestly thought that he needed to move on. However, after reading this book I realised that some people can’t eat certain foods, say certain things or control certain

I've read many books in my lifetime, but there is one that made me look at things completely different. The book is titled Speak, and is written by Laurie Halse. It made me see how real depression, PTS and rape are. It made me look through Melinda's eyes/mind and how she couldn't take to anyone about her problems, so instead she bottled everything up. It showed me to talk about these painful things and if someone doesn't listen, find someone that…

Linda especially suffered when she was in her teenage years because her mistress was wanting to have sexual relations with her. Later in the book, Linda had two kids and like every mother she tried to protect them, but she couldn’t because her kids were also slaves. Throughout this summer I read the book “Dreaming in Chinese: Mandarin Lessons in Life, Love, and Language” by Deborah Fallows. It is a memoir about the discoveries Deborah Fallows made through her journey of living in China for three years. She wrote about the good and bad but also the different things she learned in the process. For example she wrote about her troubles when she first started getting introduced to the different tones, but then she learned that although the tones may sound the same, the character is what changes the different tone to the different meaning. Her example was that shī (狮), shí (十), shǐ (使), shì (是) sound the same but mean lion, ten, to make, and to be because the different characters change the meaning.…

The book I read was Hole in My Life which is the autobiographical story of Jack Gantos during his earlier years. Born in 1951, he didn't have parental supervision so he was off doing his own thing. This is quite different from than other people's upbringings. Surviving by himself he learned many things about the real world. Born in the Virgin Island he returned to the states to finish high school, but unfortunately he didn't have any parents he could stay with so he was homeless for a short period of time, because he didn't take school seriously and partying habits took control over his life.…

A book that strongly influenced me would be On Writing by Stephen King. Truthfully speaking, I initially picked up the book because of its title. But, I was shaken by how much I enjoyed the book and the art of memoirs.…

In the novel, the people gave up their freedoms. When this happened the government simply made books illegal to read, as individual thoughts worked against the smooth flow of society’s happiness. Anything that worked against the smooth happy flow of society slowly became illegal. Reading, driving too slowly, and anything else against society became illegal. In the novel, it wasn’t so much as the government had one day became corrupt, but the people stopped caring about reading, free thinking, and anything else that was not considered fun.…

I think the book, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid Double down”, written by Jeff Kinney, was an awesome book. The book is about a young kid, like me, who is just learning his common sense and his moral ethics. The book was very entertaining to read as it gives the perspective of a young boy, Greg Heffley, of his not-so-ordinary life. People may think he’s ordinary, but when you get into his everyday life, it gets weird. He has an older brother, which I can relate to, and he’s always trying to get out of work, no matter what.…
