In 1096, Christina the daughter of two wealthy merchants was born in Huntingdon, Anglia. From a very young age Christina was very religious. When she was a teenager she met a canon named Sueno. Sueno was known for his good life and his ability to teach the word of God. He helped Christina preserve her virginity by teaching her the words of God. One day she went with her parents to St. Albers. While she was there she saw how monks lives and then said she wanted to live like one. The next time the family went to church Christina brought a penny with her. With that penny she went up to the priest and said, “For to thee in surrender of myself I offer this penny. Eadwine told her about his relative Roger who could help her with her situation, but Roger did not want to help because she was married. When Christina heard the news she fled from the cell and her town to see Roger. Beohtred and her parents sent out search parties and went out themselves to find her, but they could not. Two years had passed and Beohtred finally found out she was living with Roger. He went to see them with his two brothers to finally end their marriage. Many years later, Roger died and Christina went to go live as a hermit not far outside of St. Albans. God then sent her a vision of Abbot Geoffrey. Christina then sent him a letter to prevent him from doing wrong. Abbot also received a vision from God. The story ended with Christina guiding Abbot the rest of his life spiritually while Abbot supported her financially. The story of Christina of Markyate was an inspiring story and a story that makes one question their own mysticism. It was inspiring not for religious reasons necessarily, but by Christina showing her relentlessness to keep her virginity. There were many people trying to bring her down such as her parents, her husband Beohtred and the Bishop Ranulf. This story can also make one question their mysticism or religion as well because of the many visions she had throughout the story that kept her fighting to remain

example of Catherine’s desire to be loved is implicitly implied through her seeing danger in every corner of the court because she believed that she is disposable because she is feeling unloved in a foreign place with rules and dangers that are unknown to her. Chomsky uses the insecurity that Catherine may have felt upon her first arrival in Russia to portray her as a feeble girl who needs to be loved in a potentially dangerous and hostile world. Chomsky uses small portions of the primary sources to show Catherine as a weak ruler who is constantly seeking love through her many lovers throughout the film. Chomsky shows her as a female ruler who needs support from strong masculine personalities such as her lovers and the Grand Chancellor and Vice Chancellor. These men, whom she typically has a love for in either a romantic way or fatherly way, play a large role in her decision-making throughout the film.…

Mann is challenging the global standpoint of femininity. It is an overall global view today, that whether you get married and then have children, or have children and then get married, most women will become a mother at some point in her life. Mann demonstrates several key elements in this photograph like the landscape, body language, focus, and the usage of props.…
