This role was given unto Adam from God as written in Genesis 2:15 “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it”. This passage illustrates what it means to be caretakers of the Earth and the environment including all those living within it. Stewardship of the earth comes with respect and protection of life, which is relevant today as the Christian faith faces the contemporary issue of Abortion. Christian faith has an extremely strong stance against abortion, as it is the destruction of a life. However, not all Christian’s are completely against it as some believe there are certain parameters of which it is acceptable. However, like euthanasia, each circumstance should be viewed and treated individually in accordance with the circumstances. Additionally, no final decision should be made until all options regarding the matter have been weighed and explored. The issues of abortion and euthanasia come under the commandment of “Thou shall not kill”, providing the adherent with a teaching applicable throughout time.
