While Pablo’s story was a poem symbolizing his freedom and want to get out. Christina was able to survive while Pablo died in a concentration camp. Pablo’s story used symbolism like how the butterfly was freedom and that everyone was losing their freedom and hope they were either going to be killed right there and then or slowly and painfully in the cramped concentration camp. While Christina’s story tells of her first hand experience constantly on the run fearful and trying to stay hidden in the sewer system. She had to stay down there for months covered in raw sewage and waste with no access to showers, food, soap, or water. They had to put their lives in the hands of the sewer works that brought them bread every day.
