In Chris Rylander’s novel, CodeName Zero, he describes the life of one kid that thought nothing exciting or peculiar could possibly occur in a place as calm as North Dakota. His name is Carson Fender, a regular student that goes to a regular middle school called Erik Hill Middle School. He’s a troublemaker at his because he sets pranks all over the school. His excuse is that he says North Dakota is way too boring. Some people don’t blame him, the principal kind of thinks thats true so on the day of Carson’s big prank he only gets 2 weeks of detention. He doesn’t really care, because his prank was worth more than that. On the same day, Carson got something that might change his entire life.

He felt like the package was telling him to open it. Eventually, Carson couldn’t resist the urge, and he ripped the package open. Inside was a strange box with nothing on it. He found a little hook and pulled. He fell down but with a click the box opened, and as if there was a living lawn gnome (which Carson thought there was) it said “Hello”. Inside of the box was a screen that said Touch Here to Continue…. Being the person Carson was he touched the screen. Then the screen told him that he wasn’t an authorised agency user, so the thing was going to blow up in 48 hours. He just realized that he was holding a secret data piece that had something to do with the government or some agency. When the first hour had passed, Carson learned that it would give 15 minute warnings, which were very annoying. Somehow, Carson got through the whole day at school without anybody noticing its warnings. Now he just needed to find Mr.Jensen. The thing is, there were 2 Mr. Jensens in the school. When he did find him he could’ve given the device to anyone of them, because they both were working for the secret agency group. Then they were asking for his help to protect this one kid, save his school and possibly the world. The agency needed his help. Now North Dakota didn’t seem so boring to Carson as much anymore, now that he knew there was a secret agency working
