Introduction
Anti-infective agents are classified as antiseptics and disinfectants. They kills or restrict the growth of micro-organism when applied to a living tissue or inanimate objects. An antiseptic when applied to a living tissue like skin it acts as a chemical compound that kills or inhibits the growth of micro-organisms. And the disinfectant is a chemical compound which prevents infection by the destruction of harmful micro-organisms. They reacts when they applied on an inert object like bedding, floor etc.
Properties
they should process the following properties-
1. They have Chemical stability.
2. They are Economical.
3. Non-staining so that they are acceptable color and odor.
4. They are not only bactericidal, but also static but

It happens because of its broad-spectrum efficacy, substantively for the skin, and low irritation. Its negative side like irritability has been described. Sometimes it produce specific. Despite the advantages of chlorhexidine .it is pH dependent and this PH is reduced when they come in contact of organic matter. There are many research has under taken to know about the action of biguanides .

Structure Chlorhexidine uses and application
1.they are used in surgical scrub.
2. Used in Mouth wash.
3. Used in skin antiseptic
4. Commonly used antiseptic in dentistry 0.12 % -0.2 oral rinse and 0.5% - 1 % in tooth paste.
Synthesis

Mechanism of action
1. It gives low concentration affect in membrane integrity.
2. Then its action is to disruption bacterial cell membrane & denature of bacterial protein.
3. When it present in high concentration, it cause congealing of cytoplasm.
Conclusion
Biguanides are used for hand wash and mouth wash widely. Actually it is a cationic group. Which gives us protection against bacteria, like skin protection. It has broad spectrum of activity on control of bacteria, as a disinfectant.it is widely used as mastitis
