This is a true story; the names have been changed to protect the innocent…

Alexander grew up in a home where he was abused continually by his mother’s brother, Uncle Wilson. Mary Alexander’s mom didn’t know what was going on because the majority of the time she was so spaced out from heroin that she couldn’t pay attention to her surroundings or her children. Heroin had taken over her capacity to see and hear anything but its voice.

No one is born promiscuous. This destructive behavior is learned from someone. Children and adults often “tell” by acting out. For a young child asking if they can touch grandpa's penis is a clue that something has happened to the child that shouldn’t have. Children of incest or long-term sexual abuse grow up to be wounded adults with complicated emotional issues. Unfortunately, the symptoms are misinterpreted or often dismissed.

Are you promiscuous? Are you addicted to drugs and/or alcohol? You know if you are, but what you may not realize is why. You’ve even probably cried out to God asking Him why? Since you came into the world Satan has been on a mission to destroy you but God’s mercy has walked with you right up to this day. He has kept you.

Sometimes it may have seemed like God wasn’t with you but He was right there. The proof is that you are still here. That suicide attempt didn’t work, it couldn’t destroy you. The drugs and the alcohol couldn’t destroy you. That pain that you’ve walked with all these years couldn’t destroy you. God’s mercy said

This research paper explores the context of Patrick deWitt’s The Sisters Brothers (2011). DeWitt’s use of a “stylized abstraction of western speech” (Vernon 1) offers its readers a respite from everyday life. Although it follows the traditional scheme of a cowboy western genre, the novel has certain innovations of its own (Vanja 130). The novel is narrated in a gritty 19th Century western speech, which although is sharp and distinctive, allows the story to not always be serious yet not always be funny, making the novel entertaining.…

Alexander the Great is known as the King of Macedonia and conqueror of the Persian Empire. One of the writers of Alexander, Plutarch was ethnically Greek, but a citizen of Rome. The author takes famous Greek characters and compares them to Roman characters in his biographies; he has created the romantic picture of Alexander and used the story of Alexander to exemplify what is good leadership, and he does emphasize certain values that would be consider good qualities found in a leader, and the outcome of the use of such qualities. She describes the many cultures she has been a part of as, “selves jammed into my skin,” (20). These selves are forced to inhabit the same body even though each one is different, and Alexander is not able to combine them in a way that allows her to lead a happy and peaceful life. The imagery of having something “jammed in my [your] skin” connotates pain, which is representative of the pain that having multiple selves causes Alexander. She also shares the image of mango trees growing in the concrete in New York (61). Alexander the Great seems to have been a man who relished in the excesses of life. Not only did he lust after wealth and lands, but also he sought after deification and absolute power. With regards to "With regard to bodily pleasures, [Alexander] enjoyed perfect self-control; where pleasures of the mind were concerned, he was insatiable only for men 's praise", this statement is misleading and most likely Arrian stated such only because of his admiration of Alexander (Arrian 7.28.2). Alexander commonly was drunk when not on campaign, and he continually wanted to expand his empire regardless of what his own men thought, which indicates that Alexander was not solely focused on the praise of men, but rather focused on his own personal greatness,…
