The two directors split the duties in half so that way they are in charge of specific things. Laura is mostly in charge of anything that is DHS related and all state and federal compliances. Laura is also in charge of the facility and the equipment, but needs to go to the board if there is something needing to be removed or fixed. Laura is also in charge of the employees and the program. Jayme is the Assistant director and she is in charge of STARS, Grants, scheduling fundraiser events and the writing and changing policies once they are approved by the Administrative Committee. Both of the director’s also play a key role in overseeing that the fees, tuition, salaries and benefits for the employees are all in line. They also help approve the annual budget with the help of the treasurer at the designated meeting. The treasurer along with both directors’ help with the center’s annual financial audit once all the paperwork is ready it goes to an outside financial company to be sure all the checks and balances are in order.
There are pros and cons to having a board of director’s. Some of the pros are you are able to get help on issues that come up. You also get to hear multiple sides of an idea. Also, if you are having a difficult time with child and you need to let them go you get support from the board and they give you a course of action on how to proceed. As for cons on having a board it’s takes a longer period of time to take action due to meeting once a month, they don’t get to see the day to day operations unless they take they time to stop in and it prolongs the process of hiring and firing staff
