Similarities and Differences Between Chickenpox and Shingles
Chickenpox, also known as varicella and Shingles both are a viral infectious diseases that causes itchy rash and blisters or red spots. The rash of Shingles usually appears on the right or left part of the face or the body in a single line, while Chickenpox occurs in the whole body. Chickenpox is often found in children, while Shingles also known as zoster, is more common among adults. Individuals who have had chickenpox often will not get it again. However, the virus residue dormant in the body and it can stimulate later in life and cause Shingles. Chickenpox spreads through coughs and sneezes of an infected individual, but patients of shingles may spread Chickenpox to the individuals who are not safe through contact with blisters. I will present the similarities and differences of the two diseases about their cause, symptoms and treatment.

Hyperesthesia which is oversensitivity to touch or to the lights and Paresthesia are symptoms that are common in Shingles patients. Although, they can be very strong depending on the location of the pain However, for those who have Chickenpox can get loss of appetite, sore throat, dehydration and sometimes a stomachache. Shingles is often painless for children whereas chickenpox is usually mild for them .¬
The treatment of both Chickenpox and Shingles is Antiviral medication. Antihistamine can be used to treat pain and itching. To reduce fever patient can take Paracetamol as well as Ibuprofen. Acyclovir could be used to treat those who have a weak immune systems in mild cases. Shingles can cause acute pain , and the doctor will prescribe some drugs such as Amitriptyline, Gabapentin and Lidocaine. Creams can also be used for the blisters. However, in most cases Chickenpox is usually require not that much treatment or no treatment, because it may be treated
