Qualitative Interview Reflection

Commentary on the interviews and focus groups (challenges, what worked well, keeping on track etc) “Qualitative interviewing appears a very significant tool with which to understand central features of our conversational world” (Brinkmann, 2013, p.4). As a former reporter of printing media, I used to do the interview as frequently as daily. I conducted the interviews with different background of people such as artists, actors and actress, writers, professors and businessmen. I have been done some interviews with English language speaking interviewees. I also studied more than two years to improve my listen skill in English and I have confident on my listening skill. I found all the characteristics of good interviewer in the video recording. Moreover, I learned a lesson to become a good interviewer and I will highlight some characteristics. First of all, the researcher’s steering skills to handle the interview is the most impressive one. Because, she used the sequences questions to show the track to the interviewee. Secondly, whilst she is asking the questions as well as she is memorizing the answers. Around five minutes of the interview, the answer of the interviewee was contradicted with her first answer. For example, at the beginning of the interview, the interviewee said that she used to do exercises but now she stopped it. After five minutes later, she said that she is joining in two sports teams.
