A peasant is a type of farmer, slave or labourer in the early Middle Ages. They weren't treated well and were given minimum of everything. The women peasants were often raped by higher or up classes of men. They were treated with little or no respect. In Europe the peasants were divided into 3 groups of people. The lowest were the slaves, next were the serfs and finally there were the freeman.
Peasants were mostly farmers, supplying food for everybody in the land or selling it at the marketplace to live. Because peasants were poor, their clothing was generally torn rough and woollen.
