The first version is based on foreignization, as we can see, the message from source material is delivered effectively. However, it is unsatisfactory. In this scene, Tyrion was trying to encourage the bastard of Ned Stark, John Snow, the first version more like a unappreciated dwarf whining to another unlucky bastard, as a matter of fact, he is confident and he wants John Snow to pull himself together. On the other hand, in the second version, domestication is the guiding theory, he compared himself to John Snow, both his confidence and positive expect on John Snow are delivered to us.

This is a words of advice from Tyrion to John Snow. Tyrion has suffered so much cold shoulders and contemptuous looks, thus he made this conclusion. Even when he becomes hand of the king and shows his capacity to the world, all he gained was disparagement and injustice. The contribution of guarding the King’s Landing is stolen by the others. He was trying so hard to save the city and the citizens from starving, but the whole city curse him. He punish the accomplice of murdering Robert Baratheon the king, but he was regard as the traitor minister who strikes faithful and upright officials. However, no matter what treatment he had suffered, Tyrion has always been courageous. The first version, as we can see, it was translated literally, but it is passive and just an answer to the quizzer. But the second version is provoking, it can reflect the courage of Tyrion.
