Character Analysis Of The Boy In Shel Silverstein's In The Giving Tree

Once there was a tree.... and she loved a little boy. The boy loved taking things from the tree. The Giving Tree” is an old story about two people, the boy and the tree. The boy is always trying to get certain things from the tree. The boy is also not giving anything back to the tree and leaving the tree with nothing to have. In the Giving Tree, Shel Silverstein uses the relationship between the boy and the tree to demonstrate the act of giving.
The boy in the Giving Tree is always asking for things like food, shelter, etc. But when he’s getting it he is not giving anything back to the tree so then eventually the tree has nothing for herself.If I was the tree and giving the food, shelter and everything else to someone I would make sure they are giving me something to repay me so I don’t end up with nothing to have. Everyday the boy would come and he would gather her leaves and make them into crowns and play king of the forest. Everyday the boy came to get something from the tree like leaves or apples. If he keeps coming everyday to get leaves or apples the tree will lose that everyday and not have anything because the boy isn’t giving anything to the tree. So

The tree and the boy are good friends. The tree likes when the boy plays and climbs on the tree. The tree said, "Come, Boy, come and climb up my trunk and swing from my branches.’’ The tree is telling the boy to come and swing on the branches. But eventually like later on in the story the boy gets to old and can’t do it anymore and it makes the tree sad. The tree always wants the boy to climb up her and swing but then one day the boy got too old and wasn’t able to do any of that any more. The story is trying to tell you that if you get something from someone else give them something back to repay them so they don’t end up with nothing to have and they will always have
