Book 6 starts out with Aeneas and his crew arriving on the shore of Italy. Aeneas gets off the ship and heads to land. When he arrives on land, he travels to the Temple at Cumae built for Apollo. This temple is a cave, and in this cave a priestess named Sibyl meets him. This information is depicted throughout lines 1-55. Aeneas went to the temple to pray to the god Apollo about settling in Italy and establishing Rome. Sibyl tells Aeneas that more things are going to occur in Italy before he will be able to settle. Aeneas then asks Sibyl if she can get him into the underworld, or the House of Hades, so that he can talk visit his father Anchises and talk to him.
