Changing Oil Case Study

Most machines except for some electrical machines, will need an oil change at some point, so the vehicle can function properly. Cars are not an exception. Since the invention of cars, there’s been a need for owners to take preventative measures to keep their cars functioning properly. As a result, this has led to an increase of franchise owned businesses that specifically cater to changing oil. In fact, service stations like Jiffy Lube or Pep Boys can be difficult because auto body shops tend to charge for parts and labor, while still leaving the customers clueless about the what preventive maintenance was done on the vehicle. After some extensive research, we’ve noticed an increase in oil changing related questions. To ease the burden of our consumers, we constructed our own manual, but after numerous complaints we’ve soon found that our current manual is inaccurate. Although, our initial approach was to provided step by step instructions on “How to Change Oil”, we’d soon found out that our step by step instructions made this task very difficult to execute.

We’ve noticed there are several areas of concern and people are having difficulty understanding instructions from our manual. The following are some list of concerns that need to be address in our previous manual.
¬ The instructions should caution the audience about the temperature of the oil PRIOR to changing it. Changing the oil directly after driving, could cause severe injury. A warning or cation label isn’t highlighted before or after the step.
¬ The manual doesn’t include all the parts that will need to be replaced, how many quarts are needed, and when the drain plug and gasket should be changed.
¬ The proper way to jack up the vehicle.
¬ The graphics are out dated.
¬ The font isn’t visible
